It was literally just Christmas, I know but Valentine’s Day is right around the corner!
Also, known as the time to get that special person in your life a gift. For me, it’s my boyfriend… although, he doesn’t want to celebrate holidays anymore because they’re expensive – insert eye roll emoji, he just asked for some Yeezys.
We’re going to share some gift ideas to get your special person. Whether that guy is your boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, fiancé, a friend with benefits, best friend, etc., there are going to be gift ideas that would work for them. I don’t have to shop for a lot of people on Valentine’s Day, just my boyfriend, and dog. A few years ago, my friends and I would buy each other gifts to celebrate the day even though we were single – we had each other, though and that’s what matters! None of my people are picky but Chase, my boyfriend, makes sure to let me know what he wants or he talks about things he likes which I know are hints without really being hints.
Every year, I have to switch it up because you can’t keep doing the same thing over and over. I mean you can but I wouldn’t want to do the same thing over and over — be unpredictable with your Valentine’s Day plans. I don’t want to say go big or go home because you can have a fun date night without leaving your home.
You don’t have to make a big deal out of this day but make sure that your person isn’t expecting it to be an extraordinary day.
Some people don’t like to celebrate this day which is understood – celebrate yourself! A relationship doesn’t signify that you can celebrate this day. And, make sure you get yourself something good if you aren’t treating someone else.
Don’t sleep on the after Valentine’s Day candy either. Just know, you can do bad all by yourself. Shower yourself with love.
Let’s talk gifts because I love gifts and giving. If you have plans and you are lacking on the gifts, make sure that you read below because it could help. You could make someone’s day by giving them a gift that they aren’t expecting or have no idea that they need.
Gifts for Her
When it comes to the ladies, I’m always going with home-y items and things that you can apply to your lifestyle. Everything is comfy and things I think would be a great gift. What lady in your life wouldn’t love these gift ideas? You can spoil her on this day (although, you should do it every day with quality time and love) and really show her that you put thought into her gift.
Gifts for Him
Men are always hard to shop for including my boyfriend even though he gives me ideas of things that he wants. I think we think too much of the gifts and make it hard for ourselves. I mean, why not? We want everything to be perfect and for the men in our lives to adore what we buy. Hopefully, there’s an idea or two here to help you with your gift shopping.
Or don’t spend the money…
You can divert from buying gifts if you want to put together something that you think would be sentimental and hold value. You could put together a photo album or calendar of the two of you. I’ve done both of these – for myself but it’s never a bad idea to create something for your significant other. Not only could you go down that crafty path but maybe try to DIY a shelf or something that they can hang up in their/your place that is their own. And, shadowboxes are a pretty cool gift. I’ve been looking at jersey display cases for my boyfriend because I think it would be in the right step to get all his jerseys up.
Here’s to not having to overthink the gift process – Valentine’s Day is pretty simple. If you come up with nothing, you can always go the candy or cookie route. That route is not a bad route especially when you can have Cheryl’s cookies delivered by the dozen. And, food is never a bad idea… just in case you were wondering.
Just don’t stress out because at the end of the day, you thought of that person and you showed you cared by gifting them with a gift, your love, or your presence.
Make sure that you enjoy your Valentine’s Day and that you make the best of the day.
Happy Valentine’s Day, in advance!
What are you getting your person for Valentine’s Day?
I have the hardest time finding gifts for my husband! I agree we over think it! I love your ideas!
I agree that shadow boxes would make a great gift. Since my husband loves music, a music-related shadow box gift would be pretty cool. 🙂
