If I had to describe my style, I honestly won’t know the right term. Most of the pieces that I collect are things that I can envision wearing at work and outside of work. I would say I have a transitional style if that’s a thing.
When I shop, I’m looking at things that I can wear to work because I like to look presentable, trendy, and good when I’m at work plus appropriate. Right now, I work at a fashion retailer on the corporate side so it’s fashion everywhere. From the girls that look like the fashion bloggers on Instagram to the people that take their style seriously and put together with eccentric looks that I wish I could pull off.
Four months ago, you wouldn’t catch me in half the stuff I wear. My new position has reinvigorated the fashion lover in me. At one point, I had the dream to be in NYC working in Fashion PR so this is just as close. I can only imagine the style I would have there — probably rocking tons of pieces that I wouldn’t dream of here in Columbus.
Not that I want to play Columbus because there are so many fashion-forward people. I follow them, I take notes from their style. I wish I was a bit more edgy with my looks.
Plaid Dress Trend
This plaid dress is one of my favorite buys from this summer. Not only is it perfect for the warm weather but it’s a great piece for fall that I found at Forever 21.
As I said, I need pieces that work as a career woman, mom-ing, and trendy. This dress does all of that.
With this dress, it’s the perfect length for bare legs, leggings, tights, or jeans! I find that I love dresses for work because I can move freely and my thighs don’t feel like they’re being choked. And, I love that I can button it up which makes for easy turnaround time for getting dressed. I don’t have to worry about squeezing into anything because it flows!
With this dress, I made sure to pair a purse that would pop — this yellow crossbody from Target was the perfect accessory. It’s perfect for a night out and fits the necessities which are your phone, wallet, and small snacks.
I would consider this a staple item in my closet.
You can’t go wrong with a dress that works for all seasons. It can be dressed up with booties or heels, dressed down with tennis shoes or sandals, or fancied up with knee-high boots. Very versatile.
Fall is coming and you want this piece in your closet!
Here are some of my plaid picks — various prices for all shoppers!
Love this look!
