Mood: Fall, fall, and more fall! I’m so excited that Fall is here and the wardrobe can commence. One of my favorite things about this season is the different styles and trends that come out. From suede and leather to plaid and texture, the trends vary and you get to see people’s style come alive.
Fall is the season where I think my closet gets the most usage. Undoubtedly, fall is just a season of pulling off so many looks. You can’t go wrong in fall.
Tons of chunky and knitted sweaters, neutral palette of trousers, all wash denim galore, my closet is definitely packing. But, my favorite piece? My outerwear pieces.
A jacket can take an outfit from casual to dressy — it can transform the whole look. Jackets in the Fall are versatile and can easily be added to the look. Listen, you can’t change my mind that jackets are an important part of the look. First, it’s right before the weather gets all cold and we’re in in bulky coats. And second, the jackets we get to wear are cute for the timebeing.
Obviously, I love jackets. Just in case you couldn’t tell. And, I feel they are necessary for fall. They’re the look completer.
Now, these are the jackets that will carry you through fall. And my expertise is based on what is in my closet and what jackets always sell out with some of your fave retailers. You can’t go wrong, trust me.
Jackets to Add to Your Fall Collection
Moto Jacket
Of course, my go-to will always be my moto jacket. I have this in multiple colors because I’m obsessed with the cut and style. My moto jackets are faux leather and leather. I like to have a mix, plus genuine leather is expensive. What I love about the moto jackets is that it can take a look from chic and classy to edgy. It’s a jacket that can serve multiple looks. You’re mood in the jacket can match the look. Another thing that I love is how versatile your look can be. It can be simple — jeans and a bodysuit with the moto jacket or dressed up — midi dress with the moto jacket. Ultimately, there are so many looks that can be pulled off and why this jacket will always be on my list.
Layer your moto jacket with any and every thing! In fact, add that edge to your look. My final tip is that there are moments where the jacket should be the focus and other moments where it’s just the accessory to keep you warm. Choose your top and pants wisely.
Trench Coat
The trench coat is the ultimate chic coat. From dad coats to teddy coats, I feel that those fall into trench. There is no doubt about it. From the teddy coat to the plaid coat, trench has taken over the game. All of my friends have a trench coat, I can guarantee it or they’re about to add one to their list. Also, a trench coat can add mystery to a look because no one knows what is under until it’s unbuttoned. I have multiple trench coats. I have a plaid dad coat, black and pink teddy coats, and a grey dad coat. And, I feel chic in all of them. They give me Biden’s granddaughter’s at his inauguration — those trench coats and looks were fire!
How to wear a trench coat? First, you can do a lot with this jacket. Throw on some jeans and clean white tee and you’re giving casual chic. Maybe you’re feeling that midi black dress and need a trench coat to add some depth to your look. Likewise, you can toss is on over your business casual and you’re basically Olivia Pope, minus the glass of wine until later that night.
Shacket
The Shacket is like that newfound glory. To be honest, it’s everyone’s favorite thing right now. Maybe not everyone, but many people love them. And, can you blame them? Obviously, they’re cute and they’re pulling in two trends — jackets and shirts (specifically plaid and corduroy). And, they can work with all the looks. First, you want to do chic? Throw on some booties. Or comfy? Similarly, add it to your sweats or legging looks. In addition to dressing up or down a look, you can easily remove it if you’re hot or add it if you’re cold. Moreover, we’re looking at a look that can do it all.
I really think you can do no wrong with a shacket. It’s the look of fall wrapped into this piece of clothing. There’s plaid, lots of plaid. In fact, we’re loving all the plaid. For example, the shacket is the look for apple picking and pumpkin patching. Throw on jeans, leggings, or some leather pants and send me a picture to hype up that look because that is it. My favorite look with my shacket is mom jeans and booties.
Which Fall Jacket is calling your name?
Not only do these jackets spice up a look, they fulfill the purpose of keeping you warm for chilly mornings and not sweating to death by lunch.
My closet features a range of these jackets in different colors and textures — I’m talking suede, leather, and faux leather. Futhermore, there’s more of these textures out there that I have yet to explore and splurge on.
Finally, you can find one of these jackets at your favorite retailer. For instance, Abercrombie & Fitch can be your best friend for the season. My closet is sponsored (not really) by them. Another favorite of mine that is more affordable would be Forever 21 But, always remember quality is greater than quantity when it comes staple pieces.
At last, my final tip — shop the after seasonal sales! You’ll find the best markdowns and the jackets look the same the following Fall/Winter season. I work in retail fashion, trust me on this. If there are any updates, it’s to the small details.
A staple jacket is a forever thing.
