It’s time to stock up for baby! Everything is starting to feel just a little more chaotic as the time presses on. Like, my baby is coming and what do I need to do?!
As my due date gets closer, I realize there are a lot of things that I have not finished. From the nursery to prepping meals for after delivery. I’m feeling a bit behind on my nesting and getting everything together.
The one thing that I have remembered to do is put together a list to stock up and make the trip to Sam’s Cub. Honestly, my one trip to Sam’s Club would squash my list of things to do as I can pile up on much-needed supplies for the next few weeks or so after birth.
Also, don’t forget that it’s not just about mom and baby – dad, siblings, and pets need to be remembered, too!
For the baby
The baby is the reason for this shopping trip. Obviously, you need to stock up on the things that you know that you need and things that you might run out of.
When it comes to my baby boy, I want to stock up on the few things that were not purchased on my registry and what I think are a necessity. It’s hard to predict what baby will need before he gets here but that’s why I can only try my best to make sure I have things that will help us get by for those first few weeks when we don’t venture out.
Let’s be real, if you stock up on enough things then you won’t need to go to the store for a month, and that’s what we’re all hoping for. Especially if you’re giving birth in the cold months when sickness runs rampant.
If people avoided getting you some diapers and wipes, you should stock up on one or two boxes. The great thing about buying in bulk is there are 100+ diapers or wipes in the box. If you do this, then you’re going to have more than enough before having to run out to the store.
A few other things you can stock up on at Sam’s Club are a crib mattress and glider (or sofa which is what you might find). If you plan on supplementing or formula feeding, don’t forget your infant formula! Maybe add baby products like soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion as those could be a necessity.

For mom

It’s important that mom gets her own category. We are carrying a baby for nine months, we’re going to need all the love and help that we can get. One thing that should be at the top of the list is Prenatal Vitamins during your pregnancy. It’s essential during pregnancy and if you’re trying, you should incorporate them before conceiving. For my vitamins, I went with Nature Made® Prenatal Multi + DHA (200mg) 150ct. softgels — why?
Nature Made Prenatal® Multi + DHA (200mg) 150ct. soft gels are guaranteed to meet our high quality standards – it is made from carefully selected ingredients under strict manufacturing processes. Not only that but they are easy to use as you only have to take the pill once a day — something that I look for when I take all of my vitamins. And, they’re easy to swallow, so I don’t dread taking my Prenatal each day. And, you can find it at Sam’s Club, so there’s another item checked off your list.
Fun fact: I do not like drinking milk, so I always search for a vitamin with calcium. Nature Made® Prenatal Multi + DHA (200mg) 150ct. softgels provides essential vitamins and minerals (before and during pregnancy) including Folic Acid, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Iodine, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin D3†.
Also, postpartum should be a priority and needs to be planned for. You (nor I) want to be struggling after birth with high hopes that some planning had been done. For moms that are breastfeeding, prepare in advance so you can nurse your baby and yourself. you want to prep yourself by knowing what products to get and how to use them before you actually need to use them. Don’t forget an after labor kit; I have heard it does wonders (as I prepare for my kit).

- Nightgown

For the household
Listen, you can’t forget everyone else in the household. I get that mom and baby are important but so are the many people living under the same roof.
The entire family needs to be prepared and stocked up for what is going to happen. Household items like cleaning supplies and laundry supplies should be at the top of your list. Throw in some medicine that will come in handy for anyone that catches anything and hand sanitizer for the visitors.
That means that meal prepping in advance is important. You can either buy pre-made family meals in the freezer section at Sam’s Club or do your own thing. I’m going to do both — I will prepare the easy food that I know I can prepare and throw into the crockpot. I’m on a Pinterest overload as I save tons of meals to prep.
Don’t forget about your darling pet, either. He or she will need a few items like food and/or treats!
- Laundry detergent
- Paper Towels
- Snacks
- Freezer Meals
- Medicine
- Meal Prep Supplies
- Hand Sanitizer
- Cleaning supplies
- Pet Supplies
Miscellaneous
These items don’t fall into one category as they can gloss over many of the categories. With the things below, you can either find a use for them or not see any use for them. For me, I think batteries are essential as I have realized many of our baby items need batteries along with things around the house. A variety of batteries will be helpful. You can find a bulk of batteries at Sam’s Club for a great price.
And, movies are a great way to get some alone time when the baby is napping or family members are over to help. Make sure you dig through the shelves because you never know what hidden treasure you might find when it comes to movies.
- Batteries
- Movies/Subscription
The number one thing to remember while shopping is to stock up on things that you know that you will use. Don’t just buy stuff to buy it, make a plan so that you’ll use it. You want to create an inventory of the things you need so you don’t go overboard with the unnecessary supplies.
Things might start to feel chaotic, but this is the time to step back and reevaluate while prepping. You’re not going to be in the mood in the next few weeks or months to leave the house to stock up so do it while you still can.
You want to enjoy your last weeks of pregnancy to some capacity so why not enjoy them by making your baby stock up trip before the impending delivery?
Here’s to preparing for baby and making the best of your time with a trip here and there.
What are some things that are on your big stock up list for the baby, yourself, and the family?
