Summer tans more than likely mean that we’re all a bit too dark for our Spring/Winter foundation and makeup products.
Tell me I’m not the only one, right?
My vacation to Mexico left me with quite the tan and I literally was looking like a ghost because I was still using my old foundation. It was not a good look and it wasn’t even full coverage! That was the biggest disappointment. I hate when I can’t get full coverage, I have acne scars and want those babies to be hidden.
This Stila Foundation is life. I am in love with it and I find that it gets the job done. My acne scars are covered and I don’t get oily right away. That’s all a girl ever wants. This foundation comes in a range of colors and I would suggest it to anyone. Not only do you get a foundation but it comes with a concealer that is on the lid. It literally Stays All Day which is the name of the foundation. You won’t regret it if you decide to try it out.
Foundation is always a basic for me because I could get away with just foundation and some mascara. It’s literally the foundation — that’s totally corny but it’s my go-to.
So, I wanted to call out some other great products. I don’t just stick to Stila. I’m not loyal to one brand, I’m definitely a product junkie.

The Anastasia Beverly Hills palette has literally given me a glow this entire summer. I catch my highlight poppin all the time. I love it and it looks great with my tan. ABH products are some of my favorite and my eyebrow dip brow isn’t pictured but that is a necessity for any look. Great eyebrows make this girl bomb. Also, there is my MAC bronzer which I have used a lot to keep myself looking tan. There are two sides to this bronzer and I utilize the darker side is for a contour. It’s really great but a few years old so I don’t even know if MAC has it in stock anymore. I will say that they are great for the longevity of their products.
Lastly, the Becca concealer. Somehow, I was matched with a concealer darker than my foundation a year ago and it has come in handy this summer. The coverage with the Becca concealer is thick and it blends well. I need to get it to match my actual foundation and my life will be set. It’s great for people that are looking for coverage, it has a thick consistency to it which I find perfect for hyper pigmentation and redness.
Summer is hot and humid in Ohio so I try to avoid overdoing it. You don’t need too much makeup when you’re just going to work during the week and hanging out on the weekend. Absolutely no need for piling on makeup. Plus, I don’t want to clog my pores with my makeup and sweat. Less is more for this lady.
Overall, what must you have for your summer makeup?
- You need a foundation that is going to stay all day. You don’t want to have to worry about your skin being oily and the foundation slipping out.
- Trust me, you want a highlight that makes you glow. A highlight will make you shine and it’s always the best when people notice it.
- And, you need a bronzer to enhance your tan. Plus, you can help make yourself seem tanner if you want to avoid tanning.
- Don’t forget the mascara to make your eyelashes pop. Thick and long eyelashes are a necessity.
- The most important part of your look is your eyebrows so you will need a dip brow to fill those brows.
What are your summer makeup needs? What products are your go-to?
Great tips! I don’t know anything about that tanning problem…I just turn pink and then go back to pale 😉
I have acne scars, too. I will have to check out the Stila foundation and see how it does for me. Thanks!
I have to try the Anastasia Glow palette, it sounds lovely!

Great picks for summer!
First of all I just want to let you know that I love the design of your blog and the way everything is set up!!! As soon as I went onto it I immediately loved it and wanted to look for more stuff on here! It really inspires me and excited me for what I can do for myself in the future! Second, I love this post since I don’t really know how the girls do makeup now a days! (I’m only 21 but it seems as if I’m a little behind on the beautiful makeup trends) This article was great!! Really great work on everything!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate hearing that, it means a lot. I totally understand. My seventeen-year-old sister can kill it with her makeup and I’m over here trying to keep up with the basics.
