If you’re anything like me, you’re going to avoid dishing out the big bucks for seasonal decor. I’m all about my budget so I try not to splurge and look for things that are in my budget or won’t put me over my budget.
Now, I love decorating. I love to go all out and wish I was like Martha May in the 2000 Grinch Movie. She went all out for Christmas as did Betty Lou Who but she had a light gun machine — so dope.
Anyways, I am my mother’s child and just as extra as she is when she decorates. I’m talking pumpkins everywhere and fall foliage where I can place it. I’m lucky enough to get some things passed on from her as she cleans out her house.
Thankfully, I’ve made some solid buys from different stores. And, I can admit that I will venture to multiple locations just to scout out the places.
Where to shop?
- Target Dollar Spot
- Dollar Tree
- Wal-Mart
- Amazon
Target Dollar Spot
Most importantly, the Dollar Spot at Target is a clear winner for me. You see it right as you walk in and if it’s not picked over, you can find some amazing pieces. I was able to stock up on velvet pumpkins for $1 each. This is like my secret sauce of home decor because you never know what you’ll stumble upon. For instance, I’ve been able to get my velvet pumpkins, sequin mini pumpkins, and Fall mugs all out of this area. Throw in some fall fuzzy socks and I’m just really winning right now.
Dollar Tree
Don’t sleep on Dollar Tree where everything is actually a dollar. In addition to everything being a dollar, you can find some cute gems here. I’ve left with pumpkins and signage from the Dollar Tree because they just can’t be beaten. And for a dollar, you can leave with a cart full and not blow anything out of proportion. When your significant other decides to ask how much you spent, you can flash that low number and smirk which is what I do. Chase is over decoration but I am never over them and will load up when the price is right.
Wal-Mart
Of course, Wal-Mart is making this list. Wal-Mart is known for its low prices and I’ve been able to find some great pieces here. These guys are known to have lower-priced pumpkins. My mom has left the store with cute stuffed pumpkins and supplied me with quite a few. Not only will they have real and fake pumpkins, but their fall foilage will probably not break your bank if you want to stock up on some fake leaves and pine cones.
Amazon
Last but not least, if you’re trying to not leave the house then this is your spot. I’m a big Amazon shopper since I have Amazon Prime and can get one or two-day shipping. You can find a few of my favorite finds in my Amazon store. My favorite has it all from fall banners to spooky lights that you can decorate your porch with. Plus, they have the doormats that everyone has been flocking over. I’m a fan of the Harry Potter-themed doormats as I’m a huge Harry Potter fan.
My favorite fall items?
- Pumpkins — real and fake, mini and large.
- Candles — what’s better than a home that smells like apple pie 24/7? nothing.
- Mums — I can’t keep them alive for too long but they’re so pretty with their bold fall colors.
- Seasonal wreaths — I bought a cute pumpkin one from Target and I have an amazing DIY one that my mom created.
- Lanterns — I keep my lantern up year-round but they’re perfect for the fall season.
- Blankets — fall is the perfect time to load up on knitted and plaid blankets. It’s cozy season!
The must-haves:
Pumpkins
What’s fall without pumpkins? You can’t have decor without throwing these in and if you make that work, please show me. I’m very interested because that just means I’m basic. Certainly, you’re going to want these in your home as they shout fall. From real to fake, you can do so much with pumpkins. If you’re all about DIY, you can make a pumpkin wreath or pumpkin centerpiece.
Candles
It’s not fall unless I have my candles to light and enjoy a warm & cozy night. Many people don’t do candles but I need them. I love having my house smell like apple and pumpkin pie, I love the scents that come along with fall and I load up when I can because that’s my thing. If you don’t do candles, try them out. They’ll add a special touch especially on your tables, stands, and shelves.
Wreaths
Last but not least, a simple way to get in the fall spirit is with wreaths. Out of all the fall items that you can have, wreaths do not go out of style which is why you will always win with one. I have a variety of seasonal wreaths and I hang up my extra where I can whether it’s an empty wall or placing them on the shelf. They bring character to my home because they fit with the season.
Ball on your budget
You can still decorate for fall and feel like you’re balling on a budget in some way! There’s no need to overspend if you store hop and compare prices. Also, bring your friends along or team up with some pals who are interested in decorating and everyone can compare prices! There’s nothing better than sending a picture to a friend and they let you know it’s cheaper somewhere else. Honestly, that’s the best news.
What’s your favorite fall item to buy? How are you decorating this season before Christmas pops up?
