I am so happy to finally share Cannon’s nursery. It has been a long time coming because I didn’t want to share a room that was incomplete. I’m sure most people wouldn’t have cared but I just wanted everything together before sharing his room.
Many people have asked about the nursery and it was a hot topic when I was pregnant.
When we were setting up Cannon’s room, it definitely became more real.
I would just spend my time in there whenever I got the chance especially when the glider arrived. Chase would have to tell me to get out of the room. It’s just so calm and peaceful in his room. It’s the one room that is complete in my room (besides the family room). I just love it.
For the paint, we went with the Benjamin Moore Balboa Mist. I tested out a few of the Benjamin Moore colors like Gray Owl and Moonshine but ultimately loved Balboa Mist. It’s grey but not too grey. I avoided the greige trend and went with a grey that makes the room seem bigger.
My amazing parents and sister helped paint the room when I finally cleaned it out. It was originally my office and a terrible ivory color from the previous owner. Thank goodness for Balboa Mist. Also, totally my favorite paint and I’ve used it in my kitchen and living room.
Starting out, my main focus was the paint color and bringing in pieces that went with the color. With grey, we decided on white furniture. Not ideal for most people but I’m a white furniture fan. Everything has been neutral for us.
Crib
We got really lucky with this crib because Babies R Us was going out of sale. RIP Babies R Us because you were super affordable compared to other places. I love our crib, it’s a Delta Children’s crib that we got for %60 off. I love that it’s white and grey, it made the room feel somewhat more boyish. I’m very happy with this crib selection. If I don’t transform it into a toddler bed, I might keep it for the next baby whenever that happens. The white with grey trim is my absolute favorite — I’m a neutrals queen.
Dresser
Chase was on dresser duty and found a really simple white one at Wal-Mart. I had dreams of the six-drawer dresser but we couldn’t find one. IKEA didn’t have the one that we wanted in stock and I didn’t want to pay more than $200 when space is limited in the room. At first, I didn’t think I would like this dresser but I love it. I have it organized and I’m tall enough to use the top as a changing station. It wasn’t the Pinterest inspo that I kept seeing but it has worked out and I adore it now.
Glider
Another great find that was random! Chase and I wanted a grey glider from the start but we couldn’t find out. Babies R Us was sold out by the time that we got there and BuyBuyBaby was overwhelming when I went. Somehow, Wal-Mart pulled through and we found this while looking at car seat accessories. I did not want an ottoman with our glider. The room is already small so I wanted to save space so we got a pull-out glider which I love. It can be loud but Cannon never notices.
Storage Bench
Well, this was Chase’s idea. I wasn’t the biggest fan as I wanted to do the hanging shelves on the wall to put Cannon’s books in. We might still do that, by the way since we have so much wall space left. Anyways, this turned out better than I thought. It’ll grow with Cannon and can be used for his toys and books. I love how it looks with the books in it. And, Cannon just likes to touch it so it’s a win-win. We found this on Amazon so I didn’t have to go to the store, thankfully.
Storage Cubes
This was a necessity when it came to Cannon’s room. I need all the organization that I can get and the storage cubes provided that. Also, I added baskets so that I can put different items in each. I have his bath stuff separated from the tons of blankets that I received. And, the stacks of wipes are in one of the baskets along with sleepwear. I went a bit organization crazy but it’s helpful for me. We put the organization cube in the closet to have more room and I don’t regret it. The only thing I regret is moving it by myself because I was too impatient to wait for Chase. Other than that, it looks good and I made sure to keep things together.
Wall Accessories
For the walls, we made sure to implement Safari animals and a cute picture that my mom found. His ultrasound and mirror are on another wall. Shelves were a must as there are many tiny things in his room that needed a home. We went with floating shelves which hold his piggy bank, shusher, and his first tooth and curl container. There is a lot of wall left and I’m not sure what we’re going to do but Chase wants to hang a TV and I still want to do the acrylic shelves.
Overall, Cannon’s room is one of my favorite places.
It’s peaceful and innocent. I enjoy the moments that I get with him. We play with his toys and I chase him around his room to get his dress. It’s a wild ride with that little guy.
What do you think we should add to the open wall? TV or no TV?
Those neutrals are lovely. I love the gray – and those tiny little baby clothes!!
