Activities
Cannon is into everything! He loves his toys but he loves miscellaneous things around the house more. He’ll yank cords out of the wall and rip up paper. That is way more interesting than his toy cars and music toys. He is always moving — the boy does not sit down unless he’s locked in his high chair. He has figured out how to climb up on certain things so that has been fun and wild. I’m always amazed by all of the things that he can do.
Sleeping Schedule
Well, he wakes up a few times throughout the night as we still nurse. I have yet to stop breastfeeding and I’m not sure when we’re going to stop as I just thought he’d be uninterested one day. I’ll probably start weaning him and exclusively pumping if it gets to that point but I don’t mind, right now. We do have a routine of settling down from 7 PM to 8 PM and he usually falls asleep within that timeframe. There are nights where he’ll sleep until 1 AM and other nights where he’ll make it to 11 PM for a dream feeding.
Menu
Chicken, chicken, and more chicken. Cannon loves chicken and meat! He’s definitely a carnivore which aligns with his dad and the Keto diet. Sweet potatoes and potato products are another one of his favorites so he gets his carb love from me.
Outfits
When I found out I was having a boy, I sulked for like five minutes about not being able to buy tutus and headbands. That’s it. Dressing Cannon is so much fun. Sometimes he has urban street style, other times he’s looking like a baby athlete or GAP model. I have so much fun picking out his outfits and buying his clothes. Cat & Jack and Art Class from Target are two of my favorite brands for Cannon. Also, I love Baby GAP and Old Navy. H&M is great, too — their clothes run big but we’ve found amazing things for him.
Toddler fashion is so much fun. If you’re having a boy, do not sulk. You can find many treasures for your little guy. If anyone finds cute boots, please let me know as that’s been the struggle.
Playtime — play schedule? favorite toys?
Now, we don’t necessarily have a play schedule. During the week, I usually get Cannon home around 4:30/5:30 PM and that dictates what we are going to do. If dinner is ready, we eat first then play before bath/getting ready for bed. If dinner isn’t ready, I take Cannon upstairs and let him play while I change into sweats and think about what we’re going to do for dinner. On the weekends, we play all day.
His favorite toys? He loves all of his toys that make noises and play music. He’s in love with this $5 Toucan Piano that we randomly found at Target. It’s small enough to take with us when we’re on-the-go. Cars and trucks are on his list of favorites. He loves toys that require thinking and putting together. He’ll try to stack and combine his blocks whenever he finds them.
Favorite Products/Must-Haves for Cannon
For my motherhood journey, I have found that toys have been a saving grace for me. I like to distract Cannon when he gets fussy so I loaded up on toys as did my mother and Chase’s mom. Bath/Body products are another necessity as Cannon has sensitive skin, possibly eczema. When he started teething, he had a drool rash and it really broke out his skin. A Baby Book is important to me so I made sure to get the one that I linked below as it’s cute and I love how creative design within the book.
First word?
Dada. I like to this is was Baba but his dad is convinced it was Dada so we’ll go with that. He always wants mama, though.
We made it a year! Happy Birthday to my precious baby boy! I love you so much (even if you can’t read this until you’re older).
