Spring’s here! Well, it’s been here since the last two weeks of March but the weather has not matched spring expectations. In fact, it’s been gray and dreary on my end in Ohio — lots of April showers for the flowers… maybe in May. Nonetheless, let’s talk spring cleaning. Spring cleaning has always been a thing, it’s a thorough cleaning. For many, it’s the way to put an end to winter and start the sunny season off. Time to clean. You really want to get in there and make sure everything below the surface is clean, not just the surface. Are you getting what I’m saying?
It’s time to spring clean your life.
Yes, your life. Not just your room or your house, your life can be cleaning up a bit for the spring season if you choose. Some people aren’t fans of cleaning, I’m not sure why. A clean life is a nice life, a little less suffocating from all the clutter. The time has come to get yourself together and let go of the load. You want to let go of the things that aren’t doing anything for you. Why hold on to the past when it’s doing nothing for you? It’s time to take things from complex to simplicity. Spring is the time to set yourself back up for success — you might not have achieved your resolutions or goals yet and that’s okay because this is the time to revitalize life, revitalize goals, and revitalize priorities.
Sunshine and flowers aren’t the only things that should be welcomed. Spring is all about new beginnings! It’s time to start fresh and brand new. Why not apply some of these tips to your life?
Declutter your life
The first step of spring cleaning should be to clean it all up — declutter your life of everything that isn’t servicing you. It’s time to take a step back and let go. Let go of everything that has no purpose, let go of everything that is holding you back. You can start with your phone or laptop, clean it up! Delete your old emails, remove apps that you never use or barely use, delete text messages that are old and have no purpose. You really want to get rid of things that are just taking up space, valuable space that you could be using. Take the time to go through your closet and let go of the jeans that you’ve had for four years and convinced yourself that you can still fit them. There comes a point in time where it doesn’t matter if you can fit them — why does it matter if you aren’t going to wear them? Get rid of those jeans and get rid of the shoes that you keep thinking you’re going to wear but you’re really not. Kick clutter out of your life. Throw away the stray papers, toss out the things that you don’t use anymore, remove whatever it is that might be holding you back. If it doesn’t make you feel good, toss it.
Check in on your goals
Have you met your goals yet? It’s time to take a step back from the stress of life and look back on the goals that you set. We’re hitting April and those resolutions or goals that you may have set might not be met yet or they’re causing you some trouble — work on them. Now is the time to restrategize. You have the opportunity to approach your goals and see what is feasible at this point. Did your original goal have a deadline? Did you create a timeline for your resolution? Did you set a plan? These are all things to consider. Rework it and change things around to accommodate you. Hold yourself accountable for the things you want to achieve and write them down. You can do whatever you set your mind to, it might not happen as soon as you like but it will happen if you work at it. Create a strategy for your goals and check-in on them, whether it’s a monthly or weekly goal.
Reevaluate your relationships
This is important. This is the time you can start evaluating your friendships and relationship. How are these people raising the quality of your life? There are people that are your friend on the surface and people that have gotten below the surface. The friends on the surface are just serving a purpose when it’s convenient for them. You have to take the steps to remove the toxic people from your life. Repel toxicity. Let go of the people that hurt you more than they make you smile. It’s not good to hold on to friendships that have no quality. Don’t give time to people that aren’t good for your health. Take a hard look at your relationships, take down what’s working and what’s not working. Is the whirlwind of emotions worth it? Now is the time, the time to take a step back and figure out what can and can’t be worked on.
Organize your life
Things can mess with your focus if they’re in the way or creating a mess. Take the time to organize things whether it’s your workspace or closet — take the time to establish some order. It’s worth it in the end when you know where everything is. Trust me on this. Invest in a planner or journal, something that will help you stay accountable. Focus on a plan and insert it into your life. It’s okay to color code and alphabetize things, don’t let anyone make you think it’s weird or doing too much. If you want to organize your sock drawer, organize it. It’s your life, put things in order the way that you want order them.
Focus on your health
Yes, this can be done. You can focus on your health and fitness if you’ve fallen off the train. It’s time to get a plan together whether it’s a meal prep plan or deciding what days you want to go to the gym and what exercises you want to do. Create a workout plan that focuses on your health needs. Think about what you can do and what you want to be able to do, write it down in your notes on your iPhone and take it out when you get to the gym. Try out a new recipe, something beneficial to your health. Listen, summer is right around the corner but the sun will soon be out — get ready for suns out, guns and buns out.
Needless to say, it’s up to you on how you want to clean up your life. Removing the clutter might be something that you need to do to find some peace. I challenge you to try one of these steps and see what good it does for you. That being said, it’s time to welcome spring with open arms. The sun will soon be out and flowers will be blooming, I’m excited. I’m also on my declutter kick so I will be donating clothes this week.
Time for a new start. Kick off spring with a cleanse. What are some tips you have for spring cleaning?

Great tips here, Britnee! It’s hard to remind ourselves to check in on our goals often…I don’t do that enough! I’m definitely feeling the urge to get more organized before the busy season hits though, so these help a ton. 🙌
Great tips and I am going to go through one of them and spend some time evaluating and adjusting some goals. Thank you for sharing!
